What You Should Know About Online CPO Certification

Are you thinking of becoming a pool service technician? Smart move.

COVID-19 sparked an explosive demand for swimming pools. As life returns to normal, swimming pool installations have slowed down a little. But the demand for pool service technicians is stronger than ever.

The more pools there are, the more pool technician jobs there will be.

Whether you’re new to the pool maintenance industry—or already have experience but want to take your career (or business) to the next level—an online CPO certification could be key.

Continue reading to find out how online CPO certification works and how it can benefit you.

The Benefits of Getting CPO Certified

Before we get into how you can complete a CPO certification online, why would you need to get CPO certified in the first place?

If you want to service public pools and spas, you should definitely hold a CPO certification. A lot of states require commercial pools and aquatic facilities to have a CPO-certified operator on site. If they don’t have one on staff, they need to hire a CPO-certified pool service technician.

One of the reasons for this is that public pools can spread waterborne illnesses. Without proper pool chemistry training, technicians might fail to keep water safe and sanitary.

Even if you don’t have to hold a CPO license by law, it is still a good idea to get certified.

For instance, let’s say you’re running a small residential pool cleaning business. Depending on the state you live in, you might not need a CPO certification

However, getting CPO-certified could be a pivotal move for your business. It will teach you all the basics you need to know to be a pool technician, such as pool chemistry. It will also help you to follow state and local codes, and make you come across as more knowledgeable and professional to your customers.

If you’re looking to get hired as a pool service technician, having a CPO certification will make you a more attractive candidate. If you’re already qualified, you might also have access to better-paying pool technician jobs than someone without a certification.

Our Online CPO Training Is Entirely Self-paced

Now that we’ve covered some of the main benefits of getting certified, let’s get into online CPO certification specifically.

Online CPO certification is usually much more convenient than in-person training. With in-person training, you’re tied to the course program. If this doesn’t fit in with your schedule, it can be challenging to try and fit training in around your work and personal responsibilities.

Here at Poolcerts.com, we understand that not everyone has the freedom to commit to a course schedule. That’s why our online CPO training is entirely self-paced. You can work through the training at whatever rate suits you.

Do you want to work around the clock and finish it in a day or two? You can!

Or maybe you only have 30 minutes in the evenings? No problem.

Our flexible, self-paced training makes CPO certification easy and stress-free.

You Can Access It Anywhere

Online CPO training also offers geographical flexibility. Not only can you study when you want, but you can also study where you want.

It doesn’t matter what part of the country you’re in, you can become a CPO-certified pool service technician through us. As long as you have an internet connection, you’re good to go.

Being able to complete the training anywhere can also make things easier and cheaper. Instead of having to drive to an in-person class, you can access the coursework at home, at a coffee shop, at school, etc. This reduces travel costs and time and allows you to fit your training into your schedule.

You Get One-on-One Coaching

Now you might be wondering, “But surely in-person training is better? What if there isn’t someone to help me?”

Our online CPO certification training isn’t just a bunch of material for you to study. You’ll also get to work one-on-one with Chad Bland, our CPO-certified “Pool Guy.”

Chad is a professional swimming pool service and repair technician. He knows the CPO material like the back of his hand and is a PHTA-accredited CPO instructor.

Chad will work with you to answer your questions, help you in any areas you’re having trouble with, and make sure you’re all set for your exam.

And, the one-on-one support doesn’t stop there. Once you’ve passed your CPO exam, you get three months of direct message support. During this time, Chad will be available to answer any questions you have and help guide you through the new phase of your career as a pool service technician.

You Can Sit Your Exam Via Zoom

Another advantage of online CPO certification is that the exam is also online. If you do your training through us, you can sit your CPO exam via Zoom with one of our Certified CPO Instructors.

Not only is this more convenient, but it can also be less stressful.

How to Get Started

If you want to complete online CPO certification training with us, the first thing to do is choose an exam date in your state. Make sure you give yourself enough time to work through the course material and recap before the exam date.

After this, all you need to do is complete our 8-10 hour course and a CPO review via Zoom with your Certified CPO® Instructor.

After this, you can sit your exam on the appointed date. Once you pass the exam, you should receive your CPO certification within 3-5 business days via email. As well as your wallet card and PO Certification registration number.

PHTA will also send you a hard copy in the mail
